Message from the Principal

Teachers and staff are dedicated to removing bullying from our building.

Once bullying is reported the following takes place:

1.  Administrator or counselors visit with the victim as soon as possible privately and confidentially.

To provide comfort and reassurance to the victim

To help provide the victim with strategies to avoid future incidents

To gather as much information and details about the incident

2.  Appropriate teachers and staff are made aware of the situation and asked to be extra diligent about watching the interactions between the involved students.

3.  Reminders are sent out to the teachers and staff about areas of concern (hallways, bathrooms, locker rooms) to increase supervision.

4.  The bully is interviewed and appropriate disciplinary action is taken.  Disciplinary action may range from counselor and principal conferences up to the student being referred to juvenile detention.

5.  Parents of all students are notified.

6.  Referrals to the school counselor are made for both the victim and the bully.

7.  Follow-up visits with the victim and the bully are made to ensure that the bullying has stopped.

Ultimately, the goal is to ensure a safe and secure environment for all students.  Additional measures and alternate steps may be taken to alleviate any issues which may arise.
